And editor John Norton has recently established a Twitter account (@middleweb) which concentrates on both K-12 resources and items related to his work with the Teacher Leaders Network. John rarely tweets about what he's having for lunch.

ENGLISH TEACHER'S DREAM COMMUNITY
We seldom repeat a resource twice in six months, but in case you were at the beach back in July: the NING-based online professional community "The English Companion" is absolutely fabulous. Its membership is nearing 10,000, but TEC has many small special interest groups that create a homey feeling. If you long for professional community, this is the place "where English teachers meet to help each other." Five stars.

A MOUNTAIN OF GOOD ADVICE FOR NEW TEACHERS
This selection of 18 "Teaching Secrets" articles were written by members of the Teacher Leaders Network eager to support new colleagues. For the price of free registration, novice professionals can take advantage of several hundred years of accumulated wisdom. LITERACY FOR ALL ANNUAL CONFERENCE – NOV. 15-17
This will be the 20th annual session of this top event for PreK-8 literacy and Reading Recovery educators in the Northeast. This year’s three-day conference includes an expanded Middle School strand with plenty of workshop choices for those specializing in adolescent literacy. The gathering, to be held in Providence RI on November 15-17, will feature a rich selection of speakers, including middle grades teacher-blogger Donalyn Miller, author of the best-seller The Book Whisperer: Awakening the Inner Read in Every Child.
