Anne C. Lewis is an education policy writer in Washington, D.C. area. Believing in Ourselves is the third report she has authored on the progress of the Clark initiative in five cities. She is also the author of Making It in the Middle, an overview of middle grades reform in urban schools. For five years, she edited High Strides, a bi-monthly publication on urban middle grades reform first published by the Education Writers Association, now by the National Middle Schools Association.

Ms. Lewis is the national columnist for Phi Delta Kappan magazine and authored Restructuring America's Schools for the American Association of School Administrators. She is also a member of the Focused Reporting Project teams in Long Beach, CA and Louisville, KY.
