Goals written and adopted by the
Critical Friends Group at Central East Middle School

1. To support educational reform in our school by reflecting on our own teaching and by sharing new classroom practices and new ways of thinking about teaching/learning.

2. To practice peer observations, group protocols and the development of artifacts for our professional portfolios.

3. To design and share lessons which lead to the proficient use of technology as a learning tool for all students.

4. To deepen our focus on the development of lessons which require all students to demonstrate that they are using their minds well and in cooperation with others.

5. To concretize our efforts to achieve a tone of decency and equity in both our classes and our school as a whole.

Deborah's Personal Goals

1. To make the work in the classroom public, opening the doors to all stakeholders, colleagues, students, their families and the community.

2. To build capacity in the movement for educational reform, drawing in the key players who have historically been left out of the process.

3. To pursue independent reading about educational psychology and the ways we learn.
