The Writing Assignment
Working in groups of four, Curt Matter's 8th graders chose one of five writing
assignments. Each assignment has a set of writing guidelines. Each student
produces a separate writing product.
Choose one of these writing assignments:
- Open letter from the business community to the editors of the Courier-Journal.
- Interview with a survivor of the Flood of 1937 or 1964.
- A teenage flood victim's journal.
- A letter from a Jefferson County city or county official to U.S. Rep.
Jim Bunning (R-Ky) concerning his remarks on a Cincinnati radio station
about the city/county post-flood response.
- A letter from a flood victim to a county government official.
