Student A's paper

We as Americans have learned and took on many things from the Greeks. Greeks were of the most advanced civilization, having theater, olympics, myths and many other things.

One thing that has passed on through the Greeks to us were myths. Our civilization today is still thouroughly interested with folklore & folk tales, along with myths that have been passed down by generations. Today we do not believe in many gods, (just 1) but still find them interesting and fun.
Theater was also a part of greek civilization, which has evolved today. Not only do we have plays, musicles, and dramas (which also came from the Greeks) but we have movie theaters. Many people do not realize how big this was as a part of past civilization.

The biggest thing that we have took on from the Greeks is the Olympics. Just like the Greeks, we compete in competition with opponents looking for the highest honor. Today it is worldwide and attracts millions each year.

In conclusion: We as Americans and everyone else on earth, have a little of greek history in our lives & civilization. Even if you are not involved with any of the above, you've got some part of greek civilization in your life.

Student B's paper

Ancient Greece had many influences on the development of our society today. Some of them are theaters, sculptures, Myths, Olympic games, Epic poetry, philosophy, and more. They made sculptures of famous people and gods and godesses. We make sculptures of famous people too. We also beleive in a god just as they did.

Our theaters are alike also. They had a stage with chairs rising up into the air and so do we. They put on plays that are similar to ours today.

Their olympic games involved many sports like ours and they had a lot of the same games as we do.

They had poems and myths like us except their poems were epic.
