End of Year
Student Feedback Form
List member Nancy Long contributed this useful feedback form to the list.
Juli Kendall tried it and wrote to the list thanking Nancy: I want to express
a public thank you toNnancy Long for sending us her 'Comments and Suggestions'
student survey for the end of the year. I used it as my "final exam"
for my 6th grade Reading classes and found our lots of good info."
Here's what Nancy sent us:
This is the feedback form I used with my classes on the last day of school.
Most of them took it very seriously, and it kept them busy and quiet for
the whole 45-minute period. I really encouraged them to think about the
last part of this exercise where they have to reflect on their personal
growth this year.
I've spent the last week going through them, analyzing the responses. Some
of the comments were very personal and honest, and will be cherished forever.
Some of the suggestions for improving lessons will help me make changes
in the way I teach things the next time.
It's no surprise that the most memorable lessons were the ones when we went
outside and the ones involving food. The least popular ones were the ones
where students felt we didn't have enough time to complete them. One suggestion
that appeared several times in more than one class was that a particular
lesson (Punnett squares) was difficult to grasp and needed a concrete activity
to illustrate how it's done. Why didn't I think of that?
Here's the form.
